With approximately one-quarter of the general medical practitioners in the Dominion serving with the armed forces, the prevalence of winter ailments is taxing the endurance of Wellington doctors to the utmost, and the prospects for both practitioners. and patients are far from bright. Reports from other centres indicate that the position there is eaually serious., An official of the New Zealand branch of the British Medical Association stated that there were between 900 and 1000 general practitioners in the Dominion, and from 200 to 300 were with the services.
