PARLIAMENT
SESSION RESUMED TO-DAY. WELLINGTON, June 23. After a six weeks’ adjournment, the House of Representatives will»resume to-morrow for the main session. This is not expected to last long. It has not been announced whether the proceedings will be broadcast, although the Prime Minister (Mr. Fraser) said when the last sitting ended that broadcasts should be suspended during the war.
The House will not be able to begin work immediately, as it will adjourn after tributes have been paid to the Hon. F. E. O’Flynn, M.L.C., who died last week. The main business so far on the programme for the session is the consideration of the departmental estimates. Because of transport difficulties, South Island members propose that the House should sit continuously from Monday to Saturday without the usual long week-end breaks until all the business is transacted. If this is done it is not expected that the session will last more than three weeks.
