BOARD’S MONTHLY MEETING [our own correspondent.]

HOKITIKA, June 19.. A meeting of the Westland Hospital Board was held last evening, when the following members were present: E. W. Heenan (chairman), T. W. Duff, T. P. O’Neil, J. A. Murdoch, S. G. Havill, G. H. Chapman, G. Heinz, W. A. Jamieson and F. Freitas. Mr. E. W. Heenan was re-elected unopposed as chairman of the Board, after Mr. G .H. Chapman and W. A. Jamieson had declined nomination. Mr. T. W. Duff was elected chairman of the Finance Committee, and Mr. G. Heinz chairman of the House Committee. In virtue of the extra work thrown upon the chairman, the honorarium was raised. The Department of Health forwarded Ministerial approval of expenditure of £lOOO on matron’s cottage- . . A. R. Elcock wrote, resigning position as County representative on the Board. —Asked to withhold his resignationo for one month, and to reconsider his decision. Accounts amounting to £2675/6/4 were passed for payment. The Matron, Miss A. F. Ramsay, reported for the month of May as follows: Number of operations, 70, X-rays 236, massage and therapy treatments 297. Highest number of occupied beds 72, lowest 54. Average number of occupied beds 69. The Medical Superintednent, Dr. B. L. Wilson reported: Remaining in hospital, April 30, 77; admitted during May, 107; total treated during the month of May. 184; remaining in hospital, May 31, 75.
