The disclosure of the plan to establish strong bomber forces in China is presaged in the announcement of the appointment of Colonel Haynes, as commander of the bomber forces in China. Chinese officials discount reports that Japanese shifted many planes from. Burma to Manchuquo. However, it is pointed out that many new Manchukuo aerodromes are ready to receive eleventh hour reinforcements, for an assault on Siberia. Troops recently returned from Malaya, Philippines, and the Netherlands, restored the Kwantung army in Manchukuo to full strength of 33 divisions. The Japanese task force, supplementing the pincer movement on the Chekiang-Kiangsi railway, has driven eight miles southward from Wangfeng, threatening the Chinese inland bases at Fukien, according to the Chinese spokesman. All but 50 miles of the railway is now controlled by the enemy. Meanwhile, the Chinese are increasing pressure against the outposts screening Nanctiang, where heavy Japanese reinforcements arc appearing.
