JAPS. IN MADAGASCAR
SHOT BY BRITISH PATROL.
RUGBY, June 4. The discovery of Japanese officers in Madagascar is reported by the General Officer commanding tne British troops there, who says that on the morning of June 1 the native headman of a village in the peninsula north of Diego Suarez, reported that two foreigners had been ooserved in the village. A Bntisn patrol later surrounded them, and when thev were calleu upon to surrendei they opened fire on the British patrol, and were shot. . ■ , An examination of their ciom.n o and papers showed that they were Japanese naval officers.
