MUSIC IN LONDON LONDON, May 23. War has not interrupted London’s musical life, the latest example of which is the inauguration of a big series of Summer concerts at which outstanding music of the United Nations is being played. Three orchestras participate, namely the London Philharmonic, the London Symphony, and the 8.8. C. Symphony. The conductors include Barbirolli, who came at his own expense from New York, Sir Henry Wood, Sir Adrian Boult, Mr. Basil Cameron and Mr. William Ealton. "SYDNEY, May 24. News from America has been received that Miss Nancy Oakes, the 18-year-old daughter of Sir Harry Oakes, a Canadian goldmine king, reputed to be one of the world’s richest men, has revealed her marriage to Count Alfred de Marigny, aged 35 years, after a courtship which started at Nassau, in the Bahama Islands last Winter. Sir Harry Oakes is reported to have opposed the marriage and "to have threatened to cut Nancy off without a penny.
