DISTRICT TOTAL NOW £31,272

Investments in the Liberty Loan in the Greymouth postal district up to noon to-day amounted to £31,272. made up as follows: Hokitika £22, 435, Greymouth £7480, Reefton £llO5, Wataroa £lOO, Waiuta £5O, Runanga £3O, Brunnerton £3O, Kumara £22, and Jackson's Bay £2O. The total includes £3OB in £ 1 bonds. A total of £6050 was paid in through the Greymouth banks this morning, and a further £203 was raised in a special effort for a lithe over an hour by several members of the Greymouth W.W.S.A. in the town this morning. The W.W.S.A. members were assisted by announcements by Mr. E. N. Taylor over a loudspeaker system arranged by Mr. L. Schaef on an Army truck. The to - tal of £203 included one contribution of £lOO and another of £5O. and the rest of the money came in sal.:: of £1 bonds. Further selling days will be held in the town next wook. in a special effort for the sale ol £ 1 bonds. OVER EIGHT MILLIONS WELLINGTON. May 23. The Reserve Bank reports, to-day, that Liberty loan receipts up to last night totalled £8,182,840, comprising 21 per cent. Stock £3,026,250, three per cent, stock £5,156,590. Recent applications included Prudential Assurance Company £50.000; Union Steam Ship Co. £50,000, Wright, Stephenson and Co., a further £lO,OOO, making a total of' £20,000, and D.I.C. £lO,OOO.
