TO DEFEAT AXIS
BOLD ATTACKS URGED. LONDON, February 2. “England—and Austra lia —must shun the invasion complex,” writes John Gordon, editor of the “Sunday Express.” “Too much thinking about defence, and you get down bn your heels instead of getting up on your toes. “Two things only will win this war —an attack,as near the heart of Germany as we can land it, and an attack against Japan. The moment may be fast approaching when an attack against Germany may be feasible and essential. “What are we going to do if Russia bursts one gate wide open? Are we going to look in our diaries, saying: ‘Not now. The date we fixed is 1945’? “As with Germany so with Japan. The way to settle her is to get at her heart, not bother too much about her wriggling limbs. Japan’s preoccupation is to keep us busy as far away from Japan as possible. “Ours should be to get into Japan as soon as possible. And, between ourselves. the Americans, and a regenerated Chinese nation, we should be able to do it.”
