BORDEAUX FINE REMITTED. LONDON, February 23. “In recognition of the population’s good behaviour,” Germany is returning half of the 10,000,000 francs fine recently imposed on Bordeaux as a penalty for an attempt on ine life ol the German military governor, says the Berlin radio. “If there is no further incident, the other 5,000,000 francs will also be returned. “GENERAL” _ RECAPTURED. (Recd. 2.10 p.m.) LONDON, Feb. 23. The New Zealand Victoria Cross winner, Sergeant Hinton, in a letter to Mr Jordan, states he has been in hospital in Germany for the past seven weeks, after a long stay in Greece. Sergeant Hinton said: “I am just about my old self again.’ He added that he was thrilled at receiving Mr Jordan’s letter, which was the first since he was taken prisoner.
