TANKER TORPEDOED (Recd. 11.45 a.m.) WILLEMSTAD, Feb. 23. The Panamanian tanker Thalia, 8329 tons, was torpedoed near the Moncos Islands, about 100 miles from Aruba. Three lifeboats carrying the crew were sighted 50 miles off Moncos. COASTGUARD CUTTER SUNK. (Rec. 1.40 p.m.) WASHINGTON, February 23. The Navy has announced that the coastguard cutter Alaxander Hamilton, was torpedoed off Iceland. While being towed to port she capsized, necessitating her being sunk by gunfire. 'The loss of life is moderate.
