NONE DIVERTED TO AXIS LONDON, February 16. The United States Assistant Undersecretary of State (Mr. Sumner Welles) said that no supplies sent by the United States to French North Africa had been diverted to the Axis forces He added that United States technical advisers had been sent to North Africa to aid in the distribution ol supplies. . , This assurance was given at the launching of the 45,000-ton battleship Alabama. VICHY CONFERENCE LONDON, February 17. The Berlin radio announces that a so-called Imperial economic conference will open at Vichy on February 18. It will include representatives from French North and West Africa to discuss the question of supplies between France and her African colonies.
