NEW ZEALANDERS ESCAPE
GREECE TO YUGOSLAVIA. (Recd. 11.5 a.m.) NEW YORK, February 9. A large band of New Zealanders, Vvho were cut off last year in Greece by the German. blitzkrieg, have now joined the anti-Nazi fighting forces under General Mikhailovitch in Yugoslavia. , Reporting this, the ’New York Times’s” correspondent in Ankara says: The New Zealanders had rallied from hide-outs in Greece. Then, after an adventurous march through the Nazi-occupied Balkans, they eluded German, Italian, and Bulgarian patrols, suffering only negligible losses, and reached General Mikhailovitch’s army. They report that many other Anzacs, who are still hiding in Greece, plan to surrender voluntarily to the Nazis, rather than impose longer on the famine-stricken friendly Greek families, while many others will try also to join General Mikhailovitch,
