Anderson returned yesterday. from Hanmer Springs. Mr. and Mrs. G. G. Ferguson, of Arthur’s Pass, will arrive, this afternoon, at Greymouth. Mr and Mrs W. Mason, of Cobden, have received a cablegram from the Middle East, stating their son, Private W. J. Mason, is safe and well. Mrs F. I. Lord. Lower Hutt, accompanied by Trooper A. Gilmore and Mrs Gilmore, will arrive mis afternoon, on a visit to Mrs F. Gilmore, Guinness Street. Mr. H. McChesney, assistant senior inspector of schools, has been appointed senior inspector in Auckland from March 1, in succession to Mr. A. Bain, who has resigned. Mr. A. F. D. East has been promoted to assistant senior inspector in Auckland. The death occurred at his residence, Opawa, Christchurch. yesterday morning, of Mr. George Benjamin Sansom. He is survived by his wife, two sons. Ronald and George, Greymouth, and one daughter, Mrs. L). Rutledge, Opawa. Appointments to West Coast schools were confirmed as follow, yesterday, by the Canterbury Education Board: Jack’s Mill, Mr F. J. Collier, sole teacher; Koiterangi, Miss H. Simpson, sole teacher; Runanga, Miss E. A. Schwebe, assistant mistress. The following resignations were accepted:— Blackball, Miss G. E. Harkness: Greymouth, Miss M. M. Carroll; WoodMock, Mrs I. R. C. Webb.
