LATE MESSAGES
APARTMENT FIRE. NEW YORK, January 20. A disastrous fire, raging throughout the night, destroyed a large apartment building at Lynn, Massachusetts. Five dead were recovered, and 28 are missing. ’ Twenty-seven were taken to the hospital. TREATMENT OF PRISONERS. OTTAWA,. January 20. The Government has received official information from Tokio that Japan although not a party to the International Convention, regarding prisoners, agreed to treat Canadian prisoners according to this Convention. CHINESE POLICY. LONDON, January 20. Official Chinese circles in London know nothing concerning the statements attributed to Dr. Sunfo, regarding a separate Chinese peace. It is pointed out that China has just signed the joint Allied pledge, not to make a separate peace, and certainly will not be false to the signature.
