Mr C. F. A. Whiteford, of Blenheim, is visiting Greymouth. Mr. and Mrs. F. M. Dennehy returned yesterday, from Christchurch.

Mrs M. J. Manthorpe, Stillwater, is a patient at the Grey Hospital.

Senior-Sergeant G. F. Bonisch returned to Greymouth, yesterday, from Auckland.

A London cablegram announced the death of the Australian jockey, Bernard (Brownie) Carslake.

Inspector H. Martin, of Christchurch, arrived yesterday to take over the duties of Inspector W. E. Packer, who is indisposed.

A cablegram from Rome stated that General von Schroeder, Military Commander of German-occupied Serbia, died yesterday, after an accident.

Guests at Revingtons Hotel include: Mr F. Lysons, Mr T. Coltman (Wellington); Mr William Fernie, Mr C. C. Kernahan (Christchurch);'Mr Chas. N. Taylor (Sydney); Mr H. M. Coulson (Hokitika).

The following are guests at the Albion Hotel: Messrs F. C. Henderson, A. A. McClaughton, L. Stanaway, H. Ellen, H. Martin and Brooks (Christchurch), N. Peat (Moana), G. B. Rawlings, E. C. Holley, Mrs J. Staples, and Mr and Mrs Molyneux (Wellington).

The funeral of the late Allan Patrick Brereton, of Kotuku, took place at Karoro Cemetery, this morning. Requiem Mass at St. Patrick’s Church was celebrated by Rev. Father Holohan, and Rev. Father Gregory conducted the service at the graveside. The funeral was largely attended.

The death occurred in the Southland Hospital, Invercargill, yesterday, after a brief illness, of Peter Francis Daly, aged 18 years, youngest son of Mi’ and Mrs C. Daly, of High Street, Greymouth. Born at Blackball, deceased was educated at the Marist Brothers’ School, Greymouth. He entered the Public'Service three years ago, and was appointed to the Pensions Department at Wellington, recently being transferred to the Southland staff of the Forestry Department. While on the West Coast, Mir Daly was successful at swimming carnivals, and .was a member of the Marist Hockey Club and St. Columba Club. In addition to his parents, he leaves three brothers (Ward, a marine engineer, serving overseas with the merchant navy; Leo, serving overseas with the N.Z.E.F.; and Cornelius, of Camerons), and five sisters (Mesdames R. Paske, of Christchurch, and L. B. Debenham, of Oamaru, and Misses Vera Daly, of Napier; Edith Daly, . of Wellington; and Elsie Daly, of Greymouth). The funeral will take .place to-morrow, at Invercargill.
