REEFTON, March 18
Mr. G. G. Chisholm heard applications at a sitting of, the Warden’s Court, to-day. Snowy RiVer Gold Dredging Ltd. for an extension of time for hearing of an application.—Recommended for Minister’s consent. J. Strang and J. W. Morrow for a coal prospecting license and for an extension of time for the hearing of applications. —Granted. E. W. Jones and others for a special site license-and for a water race license. —Granted.
A sitting of the Assessment Court was held. “ Mr. G. G. Chisholm,, S.M., heard two objections. Dominion Mineral Prospecting Ltd. objector to valuation list for Reefton Riding. Objection upheld. Value fixed for area at £2O. The objection by Snowy River Gold Dredging Co., Ltd. was adjourned for two weeks.
At- a sitting of the Magistrate’s Court, Everett G. Reid was charged by Traffic Inspector Hill with using an unlicensed motor vehicle on the main highway. Defendant was fined £2, with costs, 12/-. One hundred and thirty-five members attended the weekly parade oi the Reefton Home Guard Company on Tuesday night, Mr. W. J. Humphries being in charge. The plato.ons were taken for a short march by the 0.C., half of the company remaining at the hall, when the movemenis of rifle drill were practised. Later, the full unit had a short physical training session. Additional enrolments have been received, making the company’s full strength 161.
