WAR CABINET
QUESTION OF PERSONNEL. [per press association.] WELLINGTON, February 15. As the Government members begin their caucus here on Tuesday, it is expected that the question of Opposition representation on the War Cabinet will come to a head. Though the Prime Minister (Mr. Fraser) raised the matter immediately when Mr. S. G. Holland succeeded Mr. Adam Hamilton as leader, he’ allowed it to remain dormant, though it is well understood it must be settled.
The National Party does not contemplate holding a meeting until immediately before the session, but its unanimous request that Mr. Hamilton and Mr. Coates be its War Cabinet representatives holds good. There has been no hint to the contrary. Though Mr. Holland has been stressing the necessity for the formation of a National Government, following Britain’s example, ho has also given an assurance that if the party wins the next election its first duty would be to invite other parties to join in full responsibility for the Government during war time.
