CARNIVAL AT GREYMOUTH The West Coast Swimming Centre’s patriotic carnival at the Municipal Baths. Greymouth, on Saturday evening was held in fine weather and provided some splendid racing for the large attendance. A number of swimmers from Reefton and Blackball contributed to the success of the carnival. It is expected that the Centre will be able to donate about £lO to the Patriotic Society, as the proceeds of the carnival. Results: —

SURF COMPETITIONS ' The Greymouth Surf Life-Saving Club held competitions for the Senior Beltman’s Championship and the Junior Surf Race, under favourable conditions at the Blaketown Beach yesterday. There was a good attendance of spectators. The results of competitions held yesterday and during the week were as follow:— Cairney Cup (Senior Beltman’s Championship):—D. Ryland (4min. 6secs.) 1; J. Cain (4.21) 2; C. Richardson (5.14) 3. Five competed. Sutherland Cup (Junior Surf Race): —. Mathieson 1; J. Thorp 2; L. Andersori 3. Six started.
