SEA CASUALTIES. LONDON, January 21. The Ministry of Shipping casualty list gives details of 1225 members of the merchant navy and fishing fleets dead or presumed to be lost. It is officially announced that 13 officers of the liner Patrocus are missing, presumed killed, including Captain G. C. Wynter, in command. One rating was killed, one died of wounds, and 69 are missing, presumed killed.
8.8. C. FIRE. LONDON, January 20. Young was committed to trial for an alleged attempt to set on fire the 8.8. C. headquarters at Bristol, where the damage was estimated at over £l5OO. POLISH SUBMARINE. LONDON, January 20. The new Polish submarine, Sokol, was launched, replacing the famous Orzel. FURTHER ENEMY LOSSES. MALTA, January 20. It is now known that 17 enemy planes were destroyed in the raids on Malta on January 19. The total enemy planes lost in three days was 37. It is confirmed that five were probably destroyed and nine damaged.
