MR. BEVIN WARNS RUSSIA. [BY CABLE —PRESS ASSN.-—COPYRIGHT.] LONDON, December 16. Communists attempted to cause a disturbance in Glasgow at a meeting addressed by Mr. Ernest Bevin, Minister of Labour, in a similar way to the ■disturbance earlier attempted in Edinburgh at his meeting under the auspices of l the Scottish Trade Union Congress, when there were interruptions, and the Minister halted to comment on the which, he declared, has been allotted to the Communists to prepare the way for Hitler’s peace offer.
On this occasion, Mr. Bevin was speaking to a meeting of four thousand trade unionists in Glasgow, but the Communists were ejected by the stewards.
1 Mr. Bevin declared that subversive elements were to be found in the trade union ranks, who were interfering with the war effort. He added: Some of the Reds are just unfortunate tools. The Government must face this issue, as a matter of war strategy, and it must teach Russia that this method of carrying on foreign policy does not pay here. I shall not say anything derogatory to a great State, but this using of the citizens'of other countries is not the wisest policy. I shall not al-' low a small and- unrepresentative minority to become a problem.
