CENTENNIAL EXHIBITION

SHAREHOLDERS’ LOSS. [per press association.] - WELLINGTON, December 2. Little hope of any but a small return on share subscriptions, which totalled approximately £137,000, is held in the fourth report of the Centennial Exhibition Company. The report states that the Government, in addition to its subsidy of £50,000, will take over liabilities totalling £92,000 but the directors do not consider the valuation of £65,000 placed upon buildings and land taken by the Government for Air Force purposes is adequate. With a view to arriving at a just settlement, the directors propose that the whole question of the amount to be paid by the Government shall be referred to arbitration before a tribunal consisting of a Supreme Court judge and a representative of each party. The total attendance at the exhibition was 2,641,043.
