INTOXICATED DRIVER
MEDICAL MAN IMPRISONED.

AUCKLAND, June 13.
Sentence of seven days’ imprisonment was passed at the Police Court, on Neil Gordon McLean, medical practitioner, Kaikohe, for being in a state of -intoxication while in charge of a motor-car, on May 15. Five witnesses testified that defendant was under the influence of liquor. Defendant, in evidence, said he suffered from the effects of shellshock, and 1 deneid he was intoxicated, stating he had only two drinks at the Wade Hotel, after having driven the car from Auckland. He said he was tired and went to bed, and was awakened by a police sergeant, who put him through tests, and called' a doctor to examine him: ’ •
The, Magistrate (Mr Levien) said he was satisfied defendant was at I the time suffering from the effects of alcohol, and,the Court could not distinguish between him and any other person.
Defendant’s driver’s license was cancelled for eighteen months.
