GRAF SPEE WRECK
NOVEL CONSTRUCTION REVEALED [BY CABLE—PRESS ASSN.—COPYRIGHT.] NEW YORK, May 5. The Btfenos Aires correspondent of the “New York Times” says that the dismantling of the Graf Spee is proceeding under great difficulty and with secrecy. ‘ It has revealed several novel features of construction to the naval experts employed by the British firm which is understood to be the sponsor of the local purchasers. Divers discovered the existence of a hidden antiaircraft gun in the bows which could rapidly be uncovered by means of complicated mechanism. An analysis of the deck plates showed that they are made of an alloy steel'which is not an identified metal. Rust-proof plates protected the Diesel motors and other mechanism. The range-finder apparatus was lost as a result of a storm The wreck at present is broken into two parts; A large quantity of shells were found unexploded forward.
