As the sequel to, protracted litigation with the Taxation Department, Theodore Charles Trautwein, aged 72, hotel proprietor, and a prominent racing identity, was to-day sentenced to one year's imprisonment. There was an- agreement with the Federal Taxation Department, under which Trautwein -was privileged tici pay “off heavy indebtedness by comparatively small instalments. He was to-day charged with making an untrue representation concerning this agreement. Trautwein had been originally prosecuted for seriously understating his income between 1921 and 1927, resulting in judgment being given against him in 1936 for £147,000. The Taxation Department, at that time, estimated that he was liable for £162,836. A Stipendiary Magistrate- to-day refused to suspend the sentence, but notice of appeal was given. I
