TAYLORVILLE DOMAIN
BOARD’S FIRST YEAR. The Taylorville Domain Board has almost completed- its first year in control of the Domain, and as certain improvements have been made a brief resume of same may be of interest. The Board’s -first thought on taking over was the improvement of the .playing area, the draining of which presented a big problem. After due consideration, it was decided to put in a series of stone drains, which are now almost completed, thanks to r liberal allocation of labour by the Department. In all, some 34 drains have been nut. in, some 60 truck-loads of stone have been carted for this purpose, chiefly from Brunner, this part oi’ the job being done by the Board members in the evenings. An area has also, been chosen for a children’s playground, the preliminary work of clearing has been done, and it is intended to provide means of amuse ment as circumstances permit. Ti recent wet weather has somewhat retarded progress, but. has proved beyond doubt the draining effort will be successful. , The Board has in view many improvements, but the maximum revenue is small, and-it will only be possible to move slowly. Appeals for assistance from various sections of the community have not been in vain. In this connection, the Board acknowledges with thanks the receipt of £lO from, the Brunner League Club, and other private donations of a smaller nature. Had it nbt been for the generosity ot these people the improvements. coul-’ not have been contemplated on such a large scale. Any suggestions from the public for the general betterment of the domain would 1 be gladly received by the Board, and looked upon as an indication of an interest being taken in this local asset.
