The first meeting of the committee set up at the request of Messrs P. C. Webb, R. Semple and F. Langstone to consider what steps should be taken to provide a workable solution for the present shortage of skilled and unskilled labour in the sawmilling industry, was held yesterday at Greymouth. After a general discussion of the problems involved, it was decided to circularise all the sawmillers in this district to ascertain exactly their labour requirements.
