BLACKBALL DISMISSALS
MANAGER’S EXPLANATION. When questioned tp-day, regarding a report; that; “more 'dismissal notices have been served to. workmen at present in the employs of -the Blackball Coal Company, to take Effect on the 24th inst.,”/the manager, Mr, J: Quinn., stated that the report gave a wrong impression.
He explained that, at the beginning of November, 14 or 15 men from Roa were employed at Blackball, as a temporary measure..- They were taken on -to- tide them* over Christmas,- and they knew definitely that their services would not be, required at Blackball after the end of January. These temporary men had now been put off, -but it was not correct notices had. been given to take.jeffect_.onJF.eJbT. ruary 24.
