WEST COAST TOURNAMENT. Perfect weather prevailed yesterday for the continuation of the West Coast Croquet Association’s annual championship tournament at the Makura Club’s lawns. Excellent progress was; made with the games-. The greens were- -slow after the. rain on Monday night. The winners of the various sections were as follow:—
Championship Singles: Mrs." McCracken; runner-up, Mrs Whibley. Handicap "Doubles: Mesdames Whibley and- E. Warnes; runners-up, Mesdames Wilson and Lemon.
' Handicap' Singles (6 bisques and under): Mrs McCracken; runner-up, Miss J. Hambleton.
Handicap Singles (6 bisques and over):' Mrs Wilson;, runner-up, Mrs Owen.
West Coast Association’s , silver buttons —A Grade: Mrs Moss; B Grade: Mrs Owen; C Grade: Mrs Lawn.
' The trophies were presented by Mrs Allen Smith last evening. Mrs. Smith paid a tribute to those responsible for the management of the tournament, congratulated the winners,;.,and thanked the players who took part. Mrs McCracken won the (Championship Challenge Cup. Handicap Singles; 6 bisques and over —Final:. Mrs Wilson (Runanga) defeated Mrs Owen (Greymouth 26-11: . ..Handicap Singles, 6 bisques and under-; second round: Mrs McCracken- defeated- Mrs Hannan 26-12. Semi-final:. Mrs McCracken won by default from. Mrs Whibley. Handicap Doubles —Final: Mesdarnes Whibley and Warnes defeated Mesdames Wilson and Lemon 26-12.
