COBDEN NOTES

A meeting of the Cobden Citizens’ Farewell Committee was held last evening. In the absence iof the chairman, Mr. S. Alderson presided over a good attendance. • Mr. E. Cressey (secretary) read an interim report on the finance of the committee, members expressing pleasure at the balance reported. Subsequently, a meeting of the Combined Picnic Committee'was held. The secretary reported on the result of the- various collectors’ efforts and the meeting passed a vote of thanks to them. Messrs. Alderson, Dowgray, and Barrett were appointed a programme committee. Messrs. Roper, Cressey and Barrett were appointed a postponement committee. Miss Myrtle Roper, of Spreydon, Christchurch, who has won a University Scholarship, received her primary education at Cobden. She is a grandlaughter of Mrs. W. Williams, of Fox Street.
