NEW GERMAN FIBRE. [BY CABLE —PRESS ASSN. COPYRIGHT.] BERLIN, February 12. The German State Railways announce that scientists have developed a fibre of a tensile strength greater than steel. It is called P-0 fibre, and is expected soon to lighten the burden on the German iron market. It is claimed that it possesses high insulating powers. It is non-inflammable, absolutely waterproof, acidproof, rotproof, and particularly suitable for reinforcing concrete. OVERSEAS GIFTS. RUGBY, February 12. Two further examples of the generosity of the Colonial Empire to the Mother Country are announced. The inhabitants of Cyprus have given £2500 for the Red Cross Fund, and the Legislautre of the Bahamas has donated £20,000 towards Imperial defence.
