CHILD KILLED: OTHERS INJURED [FEB PKESS .ASSOCIATION.] HASTINGS, December 10. A girl aged about two years and a half was killed instantly and three ether children and two adults had ah escape from serious injury wheri, a light truck in which they were trilling overturned -after being involved in a collision with a. motor-car At- the intersection of Frederick Street ahd Caroline Road, Hastings, at 2 p.fti. yesterday. The victim was Shirley Oldfield, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. 0. D. Oldfield, of 815 Churchill Street liastings, At the time of rhe accident, Mr. Oldfield was driving a truck with his wife and infant child in the cab beside 'him. Sitting on the back were three other children. Mr. and Mrs. Oldfield and a son, Cyril, aged about seven, were taken to the Hastings Memorial Hospital for medical treatment. but were- able to go home later in the afternoon. Tho driver of the car was Arthur Peter Smith, of 715 Rodney Street, Hastings. Neither of the two occupants of the car was hurt.
