Holiday Prospect: Russian Pallet is a good holiday prospect, and is likely to be seen to advantage over a longer journey. Her breeding suggests that she will stay.

Qn the Improve: The Siegfried mare Fiancee is on the improve, and'will win a race during the holidays with any luck. Her performance at Feilding in running second to Russian Ballet was good.

Catalogue Returns: Catalogue, in charge of A. McDonald, has returned from Australia. lie is to be tuned up aga’in, after a brief respite, to race in the Auckland Cup on Boxing Pay.

Rider for Galteemore: S. Wilson, who has been riding in something like his old form in his few recent mounts; will be attending the Manawatu and Wairarapa meetings oyer the holidays. One of his engagements at Awapuni is likely to be Galteemore in the Manawatu Cup.

Just Recognition: The trainer and jockey of the winning horse in the Wellington Racing Club’s Centennial Gold Cup.Xwhich will be run on Thursday, January 18 iiext, wjll each> be presented with a miniature gold cup, a replica of the trophy that accompanies the stake.

lively Novice: One of the most likely novices at Invercargill is Ackemma, a three-year-old filly by Irish Lancer from Morse Signal, the dam of Doubleack, Trebleack, 'Waitoru and others. Ackemma’s work has been of an outstanding character for. a novice, and her holiday prospects look bright.

Westland Meeting f : In the Westland Racing Club’s programme for Boxing Day at Hokitika, there are seven events, a maiden, three hack handicap races, and three opep races, for which the aggregate stakes are £7OO. The meeting opens the West Coast circuit, Greymouth and Reefton following. Nominations are due at 8.30 ;p.m. on Monday next, at Hokitika.

A Big Offer: An English exchange reports that the Aga Khan turned down an offer of £50,000 for Bahram, winner of the Two Thousand Derby, and St. Leger Stakes in 1935. Though it was reported some weeks ago that the Aga Khan intends disposing of his stud, it would appear that he has no intention of doing so at bargain sale prices.

Lucullus Lad: , The Palmerston North jockey, 1. Rohloff, is reported to have left for Sydney, where he has accepted an engagement to ride Lucullus Lad in hurdle events. Lucullus Lad was sent to Sydney at the beginning of last month and latest reports credit him with having pleased track watchers at Randwick.

Padishah Back: Looking particularly bright and well as the result of his holiday since he won the Grand National double in August, the Chief Ruler-Caress gelding Padishah, returned to the active ranks at Hastings this week. The old horse has never stripped better. There will be no serious tasks required of the champion jumper until he enters on a serious preparation for the Winter campaign.

Amigo! • Amigo was allowed to drop out of the Oete Handicap at Woodville run to-day, but this high class sprinter from Wanganui may be produced on the second day of the Woodville meeting Amiga ran a slashing fifth in the sprint at Feilding and, as the result of that effort, he has advanced in favour for the A.R.C. Railway Handicap. He will need another race into him if he is to beat Sulieman, Orelio, Our Jean and Co.

Charles Edward: Charles Edward did not quite materialise at the Feilding meeting, but his race was really good and it is safe to say that he will not be at such a generous price next time out? The Lord Quex-Fairy Mark three-year-old is a big colt who should improve with every race and it will be disappointing if the half-brother to Cullus and Lucullus Lad does not win his way through to' open company before the season is over.

The handicapper took no risks with thp New Plymouth gelding Kaiwaka in the Mangatua Hurdles at Woodville., Kaiwaka has not previously started in a hurdles race, and is barely out of hacks yet he was awarded topweight with 10.9, being forced to concede wciaht to Fossicker and Airshot, who have both won two hurdles races this season. Kaiwaka declined the honoui, but the half-brother to Clarion Call will keep.

Proaeny of Foxbridge. ... Progeny of the English-bred stallion Foxbridge are racing prominently, and as the oldest are only three-year-olds, record of 15 winners and 1/ placein the four months of the currant racing season is highly creditable. Tll e Foxbridge winners this season, T fl the exception of the two-year-old Su Rosa who scored brilliantly in the Tamahere Stakes at Te Rapa, are Hn?e-year-olds, 10 of whom have been thieeye Foxmond (three X) Noble W (t T each), Foxtoon, Foxsen, Cornish Gay Fox Greek Queen, Lady Fox and Mountain Fox. Trotting MEETINGS TO COME

December 16 —Timaru. December 26—Ashburton. December 26 —Gore. December 26, 27—Westport. December 27, 29, 30—Auckland. December 29 —Reefton. December 30—Winton. January 1, 2—Canterbury Park January 4, s—Greymouth. January 13—Cambridge. January 20, 22—Wanganui.

Dark Hazard: Dark Hazard is best known as a pacer, but he has had a little experience at the trotting gait, and he will be raced in the principal event for unhoppled horses at the Timaru Trotting Club’s meeting on Anniversary Day. Clockwork:

The three-year-old pacer, Clockwork, which raced well at Wellington recently, won a novice event at the matinee meeting at Addington. Clockwork is a member of C. S. Donald’s big team at Belfast. Fine Art Injured: Fine Art got into a mix-up in his yard at Meth ven, and when his'trainer found him’he had his two hind legs tangled in a fence. One of his hocks came in contact with an iron standard, and it is doubtful if he will race again for some time. Dan McGrew: Mr. W. Norman, who won the Winton Trotting Cup with Carver Doone and was placed in the same event with Nelson’s Victory, has high hopes of winning this year’s race with Dan McGrew, a gelding of the same breeding as the first mentioned pair. Dan McGrew has already won over two miles and has been working in sound style at Wyndham.

Winton Stakes: After payment of the final forfeit, the following remain in the Winton Juvenile Stakes, of £220. One mile and a-quarter. —Texas Ranger, Margaret Arion, Rosreywin, Seaborn, Coleus, Arion, Mac Turco, Rollicking Ray, Cheval d’Oro, Raymond, Rey Chimes, Greyson, Arion Maid, Great Wolf, First Issue, Sea Fortune, Two Browns, Straight Flight, Oregon, Wise Choice, Ch. g. Worthy Bond-Sunny Southland.

Three Tens: Three Tens has been the most consistent performer amongst the three-year-olds, although he has won only one race. Twice he was runner-up to Sir' Julien, and once to Gallant Chief, but while he was beaten at New Brighton last Saturday, he gave a display that at once placed him in the championship class. Three Tens is a genuine racehorse and a good stayer, and thoroughly deserves a win in one of the important classic events.
