AUSTRALIAN BROADCASTS

WORLD-WIDE TRANSMISSION. J BY CABLE —PRESS ASSN. —COPYRIGHT.] CANBERRA, December 7. World-wide Australian short-wave broadcasts will begin on December 20 with an address by the Prime Minister, Mr. Menzies. These will serve Europe, North and South American States, the East, and also India and Africa. The chief transmission will be to North Europe in the English, French, German, and Dutch languages. A later transmission will be to the Mediterranean countries.

The aim of the broadcasts, according to the Minister of Information, is to emphasise to the world that Australia is a nation of free-thinking, peace-lov-ing people, whose whole-hearted support for Britain comes from a conviction that the Empire’s cause is just.
