OFFENCES AT BLENHEIM. [PER PRESS ASSOCIATION - .] BLENHEIM, December 7. Lack of parental control over young people of both sexes in Blenheim was strongly commented on by SeniorSergeant Smyth, in the Children’s Court, when 14 boys between the ages of 14 and 17 were dealt with in a series of charges of carnal knowledge of two girls under the age of 16 years. Subsequently, three older accused, aged IS to 22 years, appeared to answer similar charges. One girl, aged 14, was named in 25 charges. The 14 boys were committed to the care of the Child Welfare Superintendent, for periods ranging up to 30 months.

Jack lan Ruffell and Keith Yealands pleaded guilty to three charges of carnal knowledge, and Ronald Tudor admitted three charges of attempted carnal knowledge. They were committed for sentence to the Supreme Court at Wellington on Tuesday.
