REEFTON, December 1

The final meeting of the Reefton State School Diamond Jubilee Celebrations Committee was held on Wednesday evening, Mr. James Patterson presiding. The final balance sheet in connection with the celebrations showed a credit of £94/1/9. Following the adoption of the balance sheet there was discussion as to I the disposal of the surplus, the. alternative being whether the money should be used to buy a . cincma.tpgraph projector or an amplified radio system for the school. The headmaster (Mr. Dickie) supplied data in connection with each of these proposals, and it was decided that the surplus should be devoted to the installation of an amplifier radio system, the headmaster, president and secretary to make a final decision regarding its I purchase. It was also decided that ,ia suitably engraved plate- should be

fixed to the set on installation. Before the meeting concluded, the chairman expressed thanks to members of the committee for their loyal co-operation during the celebrations, and expressed the hope that a further re-union of ex-pupils' would lie held at an early date. REEFTON, December 2.

A party of Reefton bowlers left today for Christchurch, where they wiil play the Kaiapoi Club to-morrow. They include Messrs C. Buist, C. 11. Cleaver, C. J. Willis, D. Wright and T. Dellaca. The party will return to Reefton to-morrow evening, via Lewis The death has occurred at Christchurch of Mrs. Katherine Neale, a foimer well-known resident of Reefton, at. the age of 74 years. She is survived by three sons and two daughters. The sons are John, Ross, and Hcni a (Nightcaps), and the daughters are Mrs. Hargreaves (Ross) and Mrs, Gaivvay (Christchurch). Twenty-five playing members ot the Inangahua Silver Band left 10-day to visit Westport. Four officers, accompanied the Band, who are lo all'-m the 70th anniversary of the West port Municipal Band. Under Conductor A. E. Elliston, Lire band will lake nar. in. a Sunday afternoon programme and they will play in combined bam items in which about 80 players vi take part. It is 31 years since the band visited Westport.
