A. AND P. ASSOCIATION

PRESIDENT’S ANNUAL REPORT

I The following report by the President (Mr. 11. G. Carter) will be presented to the annual meeting of the West Coast Agricultural, Pastoral and Industrial Association, to be held in Greymouth to-morrow afternoon: “I have pleasure in submitting to you the seventeenth annual report and balance-sheet, ami in doing so congratulate members on the yeat s l working, showing a, slight profit of £l3/4/4. We were very unfortunate in meeting with adverse weather, and on the .second day of the Show a strong northerly gale commenced about noon, a fairly steady rain setting in about 2 p.m., and continuing until nearly four o'clock, which caused the cancellation of a number of sporting events. The rain, coming when it did. affected the attendance considerably, and as the second day is the chief day on which the Association depends for its revenue, our gate takings suffered considerably. In lhe circumstances, we were fortunate in coming out on the right side financially. Very little interest appears to be taken in the cattle and pig sections, and there were no exhibits. The slice]) section, as usual, filled well, together with the fancy work. Howers and cookery, but the vegetable' section was not so good as the previous year on account of 'the bad season experienced for vegetable growing. The Show dates chosen for the coming year are February 16 and 17, and the Centenary Committee have included these dates for the winding up of the Centenary Celebration Week. It is to be hoped that members will make every effort, to make the coming year's Show successful, in conclusion. I wish to thank alii those ladies and gentlemen on the various committees for their work during the year, the honory auditor, and various donors of special prizes.
