It is believed that immediate orders are being placed in the United States by the combined British and Canadian Purchasing Mission which is being established in New York.
From Washington, it is reported that, a survey by the United State Department of Commerce indicates that Canada has a large capacity for industrial and raw material production. Her major contribution to the war will be the supply of arms, ammunition. foodstuffs, and equipment. Her productive expansion depends on the intensity and duration of the war. War contracts al present affect, principally the aircraft, textile, footwear, and rail-car Industries, bin indirectly all industry has been stimulated. '[’he survey adds that of 3,465,000,000 dollars capital employed in 1937 in Canadian manufacturing, 1.047,000.000 dollars was in companies controlled in ilie United States. Financial authorities in Ottawa state that Canada’s long-range plan of financial assistance to Britain involves the repatriation of Canadian securities and later loans to Britain. A fund provided from the repatriation of Canadian money held in British mission's purchase of war supplies.
