COAL EXPORTS
DECREASE AT GREYMOUTH. A decrease of 1,668 tons in the export of coal from the port of Grey.mouth during the four-weekly period ended October 14, as compared with corresponding period of last year, is disclosed in the return supplied by the Railways Department. With the exception of Wallsend, all the district mines exported less during the period, , the gross decrease being reduced by an increase of over 2000 tons from Wallsend and a similar amount from the Strongman Colliery, which was not operating last year. The totals in tons, from the various district mines, with comparisons with the corresponding period of last year, are as follow:
During the same period, the export of timber amounted to 2,657,214 superficial feet, as compared with 3,341,241 feet last year, a decrease of 684,027 feet.
