Observers stated that three- warships and a number of aeroplanes, apparently British, attacked a single .warship. : . ■ , ■ Some fishermen who saAV the. battle say they believe that the warship was sunk, and others say that it Avas badly damaged and that the attacking forces turned away to the west as the damaged vessel attempted to escape into Noi'Avegian territorial, waters.
