The Washington correspondent of the “New York Timos" says it is reliably learned that the British Government has allocated about 100,000.000 dollars for initial outlay in industrial development, in Canada. Concern is developing over the possibility of considerable American pro-, duction being forced across the border if the arms embargo is not lifted. It. is asserted that there are no legal bars to American aeroplane and armament manufacturers who are organising limited companies under Canadian laws, exporting from Canada, and extending credits, to the British Government. FIRST WAR LOAN. OTTAWA. October 12. 3'ho Minister for Finance (Mr. J. L. Ralston) announced that the first war loan of 200,000.000 dollars for a term of two years at 2 per cent., has already been accepted by the Canadian chartered banks.
