[OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.] | The monthly meeting o£ the. State] School Committee was held last evening. Mr R. J- Armstrong presiding. Also present were Messrs F. Oakley, C. Kennedy, .1. McCracken, It. Ewan, .) Piner (secretary), and the headmaster (Mr J. A. McLeod). The Runanga Borough Council advised that the request for assistance in erecting a fence around the tennis courts had been agreed to. The Canterbury Education Board advised that the request lor shelves in the infant-room, and a new fence at. the front of the school, had been approvedIt, was decided to apply to the Borough Council for, assistance in cleaning up the grounds. It was decided to write to the Education Board, asking that the interior of the school be renovated. Jt was left, to the Secretary to approach the Public Works Department regarding the completion of the improvements at the school grounds. The headmaster’s report, as follows, was received as satisfactory. Thu present roll number is 266, 137 boys and 129 girls, and the average atendance 252.4. On October 10, Mr G. Ridby, Agriculture Instructor, visited the school. The bank, in front of the school is falling down rapidly. As this, work was provided for by the Public Works Department last year, an endeavour should be made to have it proceeded with. At present it is in a most unsightly condition, and the longer it is left the more expensive the work will be
