FLYING-BOAT PILOT
TO RETURN TO ICELAND. [BY CABLE —PRESS ASSN. —COPYRIGHT.] (Recd. October 12/2.45 p.m.) LONDON, October 11. • The Air Ministry announced that an investigation of the flying-boat’s departure from Iceland shows that the pilot did not think he had promised to stay, but the Icelandic authorities thought differently. The pilot, therefore, volunteered to return. The Air Ministry concurred that. there should be no doubt regarding his parole, and the pilot, therefore, will return as soon as possible. A cablegram received on September 29 stated that a British war-plane, which was interned in Iceland, after being forced down in a fog, on Wednesday, had escaped. The Air Ministry stated that if an inquiry revealed the officers of the fifing boat from Iceland broke their parole, appropriate action would be taken.
