STRANDED PORT BOWEN
SHIP MAY BE ABANDONED. [PEB PBE9S ASSOCIATION.) WANGANUI, October 41. Preparations are being made to take off all stores from the Port Bowen, the work to start immediately. The vessel still shows much movement with one cable fastened to the stern. Captain D. W. Gibson, the salvage expert from Sydney, who brought quantities of salvage gear, is returning to Australia this week. Instructions are being awaited from London as to whether the steamer is to be abandoned.
