FLOODS IN VICTORIA MELBOURNE, August 25._ Incessant rain has fallen in Victoria during the past fortnight, causing floods. The position in Central Victoria and in the north-east is critical. WAGES TAX INCREASE. SYDNEY. August 25. The extent to which the wages tax is being increased is not disclosed in Mr Richardson's Bill. He stated that the Commissioner of Taxation would collect two taxes, one lax, from wages, and would determine the percentages to be apportioned to unemployment relief and to social services respectively. The Bill was held over until Tuesday.
