GERMAN BUND
ACTIVITY IN UNITED STATES [by cable—press assn.—copyright.] (Recd. August 19, 12.25 p.m.) WASHINGTON, August 18. Fritz Kuhn finished his" testimony, and then told the Press that Mr. Dies and other members of the committee had as good as destroyed their political careers, by attacking the Bund. The committee thereupon called to the stand the 17-years-old Helen Vooros, a member of the Bund’s Youth Movement, who recited in full detail the alleged immorality existing in various camps and aboard vessels en route to Germany, when the Youth Movement visited Herr Hitler. Witness then explained the general purpose of the movement in the United States. “The Bund was to open camps, buy property, and form German settlements. Then, when Germany offers to aid us, we can say they are here. We have a German majority, and we want to be part of Germany . . . The Bund leaders have always found fault with the United States Government. They said it was controlled by a minority, namely, the Jews, and was not taking care of the other races.”
