Robert Oresti Incrocci, single, 31, was found guilty in the Supreme Court to-day i»f indecently assaulting a child aged five al Okato, and of wilfully doing an indecent act with intent to insult or offend her. He was remanded till to-morrow for sentence.
COOK ISLANDS REGULATIONS. WELLINGTON, August 10. Regulations gazetted to-night revise the Cook Islands immigration regulations to conform with the New Zealand and 'Western Samoan regulations. Authority is also given for the reduction of the. Cook Islands radio listeners’ licence fee from 25/- to 5/-.
SAMOAN CUSTOMS DUTIES. WELLINGTON, August 10
A Samoan Customs Order, 1939, issued with to-night’s Gazette, authorises slightly increased Customs duties on a number of articles, including matches, kerosene, benzine, Diesel fuel oil, and sugar.
SNOW IN DUNEDIN. DUNEDIN, August 11
Snow is falling lightly in all parts of the city, and is fairly heavy on the hills, with about three inches on Mount Cargill. It is snowing heavily in Central Otago, with every indication of the fall continuing.
BOY’S SUICIDE
DUNEDIN, August 11.
“Suicide during mental depression,” was the verdict at an inquest on Allen Young, 16, who was found shot in his parents’ house at Ravensbourne, with a rifle resting across his body.

MINER’S ORDEAL. NELSON, August 11
A story of misfortune and fortitude was disclosed when a miner from Anatoki was brought to Takaka last evening. The sufferer, George Kilmartin, 53, had a leg badly fractured by a fall of rock in the tunnel he was excavating. He managed to crawl 300 yards to his camp, but his plight was not, discovered until 11 days later. During that time, he managed to crawl 150 yards to a creek for water, the journeys taking two and a-half hours-
CYCLIST KILLED NEW PLYMOUTH, August 10
Thomas Farrell. 38, single of Stratford. was killed at Stratford last night when he fell from his cycle while riding down hill. He was carrying an attache case and it appears that he freewheeled down a short hill and caught a knee when he resumed pedalling. This evidently jammed the handlebars, throwing him to the road. Head injuries arc believed to have caused almost instant death.
NAVAL INQUIRY.
AUCKLAND, August 10.
The Commission appointed by the Government to investigate the pay and allowances of ratings in the New Zealand Division of the Royal Navy will resume its sittings at Auckland on Monday. This announcement was made after the return of H.M.S. Leander from her islands cruise. Portion of the inquiry was held at Wellington, but the Commission has been sitting at Auckland this week. Some members of the Leander’s crew have already submitted written but they wil Ibe given an opportunity to give evidence Wore the Commiesion.
INTOXICATED DRIVER
HAMILTON, August. 11
Albert Purcell. 50, bushman, charged with being intoxicated while in. charge of a car. last night, was sentenced to three weeks’ imprisonment. His license was suspended, and he was prohibited from obtaining another until June, 1941.
The evidence showed that Purcell was found in the car off the road sitting in the back seat, with his legs dangling over the front seat. Portion of a bottle of brandy, and some beer were in the car.
