MANAG EM ENT COM MITTE E. The weekly meeting of the Management Committee of the West Coast Rugby League was held last evening, there'being present, Messrs P. BlanchHeld (jnr.) (President), .1. Kidd, A. Fielding, W. Hopkins, A. Kyle, B. Rathbun, J. Stokes, 11. Bassett (referees’ delegates), P. Sweetman (.Junior Advisory Board), J. J. Antsy (treasurer) and W. Moore (secretary).
The Blackball Cam wrote expressing regret at the late arrival of their senior team at Winghum Park last Sunday,‘and explaining that it was due to one of the cars carrying the team experiencing a puncture. The explanation was accepted. The Blackball Club wrote complaining of the lack of information concerning tho trial matches in Auckland, and suggesting that a remit bo forwarded to the New Zealand Council requesting that more information be given to the Press when important fixtures were being played. • It was decided to adopt Blackball’s suggestion, and forward a protest to the New Zealand Council.
Mr. Stokes said that tho Council could have had tho Inter-Island match broadcast if it had wished, and he thought they should again be written to on the matter of broadcasting important matches. It was decided to request the Council to make endeavours to have important matches broadcast in future.
The Marist Club forwarded an explanation of the lato arrival of their senior team at Wingham Park on July 8, stating that it was due to transport difficulties. The explanation was accepted. Mr. I-I. Wilson, West Coast delegate on the New Zealand Council, forwarded a lengthy confidential report on the performances of the West Coast players in the trial match in Auckland and the selection of the New Zealand team.
The President: A most enlightening report. It was decided to congratulate Mr. Wilson on his comprehensive report. Mr. Stokes complained that the Mnrist juniors had appeared in nondescript jerseys at Wingham Park on Sunday, and that there had been only one football for the senior match. It was decided to point out to the clubs the necessity- of each team supplying a ball, and also that, in future, referees would strictly enforce their powers to order off any player not in tho proper uniform. It was decided to forward through tho Inangahua Lague, a letter of congratulation to Mr. G. Orman, on his selection in the New Zealand team to tour England and France. FIXTURES FOR SUNDAY.
