GROWTH OF NUDISM

30,000 RECRUITS IN NINE YEARS LONDON. June 24. Britain now has 32 nudist clubs, with a total membership of more than 30,000 men. women and children. The movement began officially nine years ago with a group of 20 London men who formed the National Sun and Air Association in revolt against mechanised office life. “We enrol new members daily,” Mr, F. C. Lindsay-Bliss, the honorary secretary said this week. An indoor club in Cricklewood, London, which opened in February now has 300 members. It is £he fifth club to be opened in London. Men still predominate in the movement, but during the past two years the proportion of women has rapidly grown. For the first time this year the balance is even at an open-air club at Watford. The club has nearly 5,000 members. The man of the family joins first, explained the warden, and if he is accepted as a. proper candidate and likes the place, he persuades his wife to pay a visit and take the children.
