Dr. Koolen, whom the Queen of Holland asked to, form a Cabinet, has declared that he is unable to comply. The Queen has now invited M. Colijn to make another attempt.
SHIPPING SUBSIDIES
LONDON, July 13
The Government’s Shipping Bill includes financial help up to £10,000,000, to assist the liner' services to meet foreign subsidised competition. The tramp shipping subsidy has been deferred until January 1.
THETIS SALVAGE.

The Salvage Company stated that work cn the Thetis is aga?n lielcl up, owing to strong winds, but: that all is clear, and! they are waiting for suitable weather.

The chief of the Air Staff flew to Paris to-day. in connection with the French national fete celebrations, and to attend the review of the French Army, as a guest of M. Daladier.
HAMMERSMITH EXPLOSION
LONDON, July 13.
His Majesty, during an investiture at St. James’s Palace, pinned the 0.8. E. on Mr. Childs, the. Hammersmith bridge hero, and congratulated him on his plucky perception.
Two time-bombs exploded on Hammersmith Bridge, on the morning of March 29. Childs, who was walking across the bridge, heard crackling from what he took to be a box. He picked it up and threw it into the river. The bomb exploded before it reached the water. As Childs lent the bridge, a. second explosion occurred on the opposite footpath.
