“Probably never before in the history of beekeeping in New Zealand has the problem of suppling Winter stores for the bees caused greater concern, than it has this year, this, of course, being caused by the almost universal failure of the honey crops throughout the Dominion. The present high price ruling for sugar has made the use of it for feeding bees almost prohibitive,” said Mr. G. V. Westbrooke, Hastings, addressing a Beekeepers’ Conference at Hastings.
